Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions? Something like ‘stop stuffing my face with chocolate and cookies’ or ‘giving up sugar entirely’? Taking a look at the scales after Christmas might be quite depressing (I know what I am talking about) but take things slowly. You still can indulge in chocolatey treats, just ditch all the processed and store-bought stuff. Try this Silken Tofu Smoothie Bowl instead. It’s creamy, it’s sweet, it’s indulgent, and it’s healthy. No sugar, no oils, but healthy fats, skinny proteins and satiating fibers – all your body needs to recover from overeating during the holidays without feeling deprived.
The base of my smoothies is always over-ripe frozen bananas, and I am not compromising on that. They have the perfect sweetness and consistency. For this Smoothie Bowl, I also added silken tofu, which is low in fat and high in protein. Crashed flax seeds provide fibers and make this smoothie actually quite filling. De-oiled cacao powder is the secret ingredient which makes it chocolatey.
And the additional pine nuts are just luxury. Pine nuts are mostly used for making pesto, but I love to eat them with smoothie bowl. They are high in healthy fats, proteins, and magnesium. In contrast to other nuts and seeds they are quite expensive, but you won’t need more than a teaspoon or two at a time.
If you could see my windowsill right now, you would burst into laughter, because there are primroses everywhere. It’s the only edible flower that blooms during winter time, that’s why I use it excessively during these days to decorate my breakfast bowls. They are available in supermarkets as well as garden centers. If you want to eat them, make sure they are home-grown or organic – otherwise just use them for decoration or wait until spring, when they start to bloom in the garden.
The pink berries you can see in the picture below are the fruits from St John’s Wort, not edible but toxic neither. Just love the shiny gloss 😍. How dou you deal with chocolate cravings? Let me know in the comments below, I would love to hear from you 😘😘 .
