Why you should eat a plant-based breakfast
Why you should eat a plant-based breakfast. Dietary decisions you make today may have a significant impact on your health later in life. It’s never too late to start eating a healthier diet, and it’s best to start with eating a healthier breakfast. Breakfast is the first meal of your day and may influence the dietary choices you make for lunch or even dinner. To eat healthy means to eat a diet high in fiber, Minerals, and Vitamins. A healthy diet is low in saturated fat, cholesterol, refined sugars and empty calories.
I am eating a plant-based diet since more than five years now. I never regretted this decision once because I never felt as healthy and energetic. If you are a vegan too, you might be happy to find some inspiration on my blog. Becoming a 100% vegan is not an option for you, at least not yet? Believe me, to eat at least one plant-based meal a day won’t hurt. Starting your day with a healthy breakfast will set your metabolism right on track. Most likely you’ll learn to love plant-based milk and yogurt and all the healthy grains and seeds. Your body will start to crave oatmeal instead of junk food, and this may be the first step to a healthier lifestyle.
For me, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I can’t leave for work without a bowl or jar of oatmeal or chia pudding. During summer Nice Cream and Smoothies are my favorite breakfast options. Still, I have to admit I eat oatmeal on at least 5 out of 7 days. Oats are my thing. So what if you are not a breakfast person? What, if you are not hungry at all until noon? No problem. You can have oatmeal at any time of the day.
My kids, for example, can’t eat anything in the morning. They go to school and eat their lunch box during breaks. When they come home in the afternoon, a jar with Overnight Oats is waiting for each of them in the fridge. They eat it almost every day, and whenever I dare to forget it, they call me IMMEDIATELY to complain. So I have to make sure oatmeal is ALWAYS in the fridge.
Oatmeal is never boring. Play around with different toppings like fresh or defrosted fruits, seeds, nuts and edible flowers. Your breakfast will look spectacular. Make everyone jealous by filling your Overnight Oats or your Chia Pudding in a jar and taking it with you to work. Top your oatmeal with a Smoothie or Nice Cream, and it’s even more delicious.
As you can see below, there are five recipe categories for breakfast basics available on my blog. I will update this page on a regular base, so don’t miss to subscribe to my newsletter, to be the first to get new recipes. You might notice, that I always use edible flowers in my recipes. Make sure to read my article about how to pick and handle edible flowers first. By the way, a list of more than 140 edible flowers is available in the sidebar.
